This is how we tie our belt (obi) at Locust Grove Karate. Please copy Sensei Minter as if you are looking in a mirror.

This is an alternate way to tie your belt that will result in the same ending knot and may be used if it is found to be easier for you.

What ever color obi you have, wear it with honor and respect. It is a symbol of your achievement. The karate obi is a relatively modern invention and therefore have no ancient traditions. The Matsubayashi Ryu convention (and the one followed by Locust Grove Karate)  is for the style name to be worn on the wearers left and the wearers name, or licence title, on the right.
